Ladies Bible StudyThe Ladies Bible Study meets at the church every Tuesday from 10:30 AM to noon. For the Fall & Winter Quarters, September 2011 - December 2011, we will study the book of Revelation. Babysitting is provided. Come join us for a time of Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. For more information, call the church office (281-870-0349).
Katy/Cypress Small Group StudyThis group is on hiatus through December 2011.
West Houston & North Houston Bible StudiesThese area Bible studies meet on alternating weeks during the school year. In the past, we have studied the books of Judges, I & II Samuel, Philippians, Ephesians, 1&2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon & Colossians, and 1&2 Thessalonians. For 2011/12 we are studying the book of Galatians.
This study meets on alternating Wednesdays of the month (unless providentially changed) in the pastor's home in West Houston and in a home in North Houston on alternating Thursdays of the month. We study the same material in each location. These area Bible studies are open to everyone, starting with dinner at 6:30 p.m. The Bible study starts around 7:15 p.m. The study format is informal, including teaching, discussion, and Q&A. This is a great way to get involved in a small group and grow in faith and fellowship.
Contact the church office (281-870-0349) for study guides or directions to the study nearest you. Click on the highlighted links below for Bible Study Notes:
Galatians Theme: ‘Grace through Faith in Christ Frees Christians from the Bondage of Law’
‘…knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified…. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.… Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage’ (Gal. 2:16, 20-21; 5:1, NKJV).
The above notes are excerpted from commentaries listed in the Schedule. They have been organized and edited together into a composite narrative, but they do not represent original material, phraseology, or ideas. I am indebted to the cited authors for their careful exegesis and explanation of the original and English texts of Galatians. DSB
