BELIEFS

Covenant Church (PCA) in west Houston seeks to be a visible, powerful, living witness to the glory of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We seek the glory of our God, the building up of His Church, and the extension of His Kingdom.  Our emphasis is on biblical worship, preaching, teaching, prayer, evangelism, and mercy ministry; loving, disciplined, godly fellowship; and serving the larger Body of Christ throughout the world.

Covenant PCA is committed to excellence and effectiveness in the extension and expansion of God’s Kingdom  “… that in all things Christ might have the preeminence” (Col. 1:18).

MISSION

Covenant PCA in west Houston is committed to extend and expand our visible, powerful, living witness to the glory of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by developing the spiritual maturity of its members through biblical worship, preaching, teaching, prayer, evangelism, and mercy ministry; through loving, disciplined, godly fellowship; and through serving the larger Body of Christ throughout the world.

“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:9-11).

THEOLOGICAL STATEMENT

  •  We believe that all men are sinners (Rom.3:23), are separated from God because of their sin, and need a Savior to deliver them from the punishment of sins, which is death (Rom. 6:23). God, in his infinite wisdom, to the praise of His glorious grace, has saved sinners through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:4-6; Jn. 3:16).

  • We believe that God saves sinners by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. It is entirely of God and not of man (Eph. 2:8-9).

  • We believe that the Bible, consisting of both the Old and New Testaments, is the very Word of God and is our only infallible rule of faith and practice (II Tim. 3:16-17).

  • We believe in the power of the Word of God publicly read and preached.  The Bible exposes man’s real and deepest needs and ministers Christ to people.

  • We believe in a consistent biblical world-and-life view that extends to all of man’s endeavors. We seek to teach this viewpoint from our pulpit, in our classrooms, and in our homes.

  • We believe that the visible church is the organized Body of Christ on earth. As such, the Church is not a collection of buildings, but congregations of believers. The true marks of the Church are the pure teaching and preaching of the Word of God, the right administration of the Sacraments, and the proper exercise of spiritual discipline.

  • We believe in keeping the Lord’s day holy by resting from ordinary activities and worshiping God as He commands. We believe that the congregation as the body of Christ are the participants in worship, not the audience.

VISION

Covenant PCA is committed to excellence and effectiveness in the extension and expansion of God’s Kingdom   “… that in all things Christ might have the preeminence” (Col. 1:18).

  • A God-Centered Ministry. We seek to glorify God in all that we do (Rom. 15:5-6), to lead our people in biblical worship (Heb. 12:28), and to instruct them in all the truths of Scripture (2 Tim. 3:16-17), so that they might be conformed to the image of Christ (Rom. 12:2).

  • An Equipping Ministry. We seek to motivate and encourage our congregation to make use of the means of grace, equipping them to utilize their gifts in the ministry of the church (1 Cor. 14:12), in their vocational and kingdom responsibilities, and in outreach.

  • A People-Oriented Ministry. We seek to love and serve one another in Christ, following our Lord’s example (Jn. 13:34-35; 15:12-13).

  • An Outreaching Ministry. We seek to proclaim God’s word to as many people as possible (Mt. 28:18-19), calling the unconverted to repent and believe on Christ while at the same time building up Christians in the principles and practice of Biblical Christianity.
